A Lovely Southern Tradition

I was lucky enough to escape for a week to a beautiful historic resort in the mountains of West Virginia- The Greenbrier- with grams, mom and my sister. We are in the suite relaxing at the moment, so I thought I'd take a minute to update you on the trip and give everyone a photo tour of the property. It's incredible here. The entire resort was designed by the late Dorthy Draper, an influential and innovative American interior decorator. She gave each room a whimsical, almost doll-house like feel. After arriving in our 19-seat airplane on Monday (somewhat scary...) Grams, mom, Amelia and I have been enjoying the cool spring weather and adorable southerners on staff! We have afternoon tea and cookies daily, and are enjoying all that the property offers. They have a movie theater showing recent hits each night (we had popcorn and watched 27 Dresses on Tues) and a bowling alley that we still have to get too.... Amelia and I spent a few hours at the fitness center yesterday before we shut down the lobby bar with our new friend "Mikey" He even let me behind the bar to serve up a few martinis! (pictures to come later) This afternoon we took the Bunker Tour- a secret underground fall-out shelter built in the 60s to house congress in times of nuclear warfare. It was kept secret for almost 30 years, even from the hotel employees!! I wasn't allowed to take any pictures but check it out online: Bunker Info.

Below is a shot of the beautiful North Entrance and Gardens. Tulips EVERYWHERE!
